Staff Sergeant Henry Ybarra III was born and raised in South Austin. He graduated from nearby Johnston High School, and attended San Jose Catholic Church. He was killed in Balad, Iraq, on September 11, 2003 while in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Staff Sergeant Ybarra is survived by his three children, Alyssa, Gabrielle, and Henry Ybarra IV; his father, Henry Ybarra II; his mother, Mary Jane Hill; and his siblings, Michael Ramirez, Evette Ybarra Estrada, and Anthony Ybarra.
